Tide and Time
Artist: Alison Allcock
Title: Tide and Time
With this work Alison invites you to consider the unstoppable march of time, the forces of the natural world, and our fragile existence within it.
Our tidal zone is a place to reflect on the proverb Time and tide wait for no man (or woman), urging us to seize the moment and reminding us that if we miss the tide an opportunity is lost.
We can’t turn back the tide but we can manage human impact on climate before rising sea levels wash away all marks of human existence. The time for procrastination and political interest is over.
She studied visual arts at Canberra Institute of Technology and Southern Cross University and was awarded scholarships to Pratt Institute, New York and the Centre for Australian Studies, University of Barcelona.
Alison has exhibited in Australia and overseas. In 2015 she was part of the installation crew for Sol LeWitt’s Wall Drawing #990, Pratt institute, New York.
She has presented performance pieces at Tweed Gallery, Murwillumbah Art Trail, BNSW and SCU Lismore.
