The Brunswick Nature Sculpture Walk were fortunate to receive a CREATE NSW, grant. IKARA Celebratory Events with Byron Girls youth group created a large lantern Bloom through a series of workshops.
In keeping with IKARA’s ethos of community participation, it is essential that the designs and construction of the lanterns be done through public consultation and workshops, so as to create a greater sense of ownership as well as passing on skills within the community.
Various designs were presented at the workshops, reflecting the natural world,

​Phillip Relf 
Phillip studied community celebration at Charles Sturt University (Theatre/Media) specialising in site-specific theatre, large scale street puppetry and lantern construction. He has worked both here and overseas on major festivals and with theatre companies such as Welfare State International (UK) and Bread & Puppet (USA). Phillip worked at Pine Street Creative Arts Centre 1995 – 2018 during which time he was instrumental in the development and production of the MASCON series of mid-winter festivals while continuing to work with community events in and around Sydney.  
In 2007 he formed IKARA Celebratory Events, a site-specific theatre company, specialising in working with communities to devise and create their own events. In 2018, he relocated to Bangalow where he has established a studio/workshop, and continues to work both in Sydney and the Northern Rivers of NSW.
