Artist: Kelly OMeara
Title: Dance Your Balls Off
Media: Performance
How about some playful, cheeky retro fun? This Space Hoppers performance art is inspired by childhood joy and the thrill of being ambushed by street theatre. This is an energetic and bright, interactive moving installation born from memories of the 1970s. This will bring joy, delight and intrigue across the generations.
The artist, Kelly, has many special childhood memories around the little beach and the river in Brunswick Heads. Kelly’s cousin had a Space Hopper in the 70s and she always wanted one. Finally, in 2021 Kelly shares her collection of Space Hoppers in her favourite place in the world.

This work is Not For Sale. However the artist is available for performance hire. Please contact us with any enquiries.

Kelly O’Meara has choreographed immersive dance for festivals and events such as Woodford Folk Festival, Splendour In the Grass, Glow at HOTA, Brunswick Picture House, NORPA Cabarets, Art State Regional Arts Conference, Falls Festival, Bellingen Festival, Mullumbimby Music Festival, Earth Frequency and Bohemian Beat Freaks.

Her theatrical creations inspired by popular culture are retro, cheeky and playful. Results have been resurrected Russian athletes, “Bon Jovial” ( 1980s Hair Metal men dancing) Alien infiltrators on speed boats and dancers on Space Hoppers. Most recently, Kelly has experimented with film to unite dancers during the strange isolation. This was part of the HOTA Rage Against the V(irus) artist support project.
