Artist: John Walters

Title: Fun in the Sun

Year: 2021

Materials: Chicken wire

Dimensions: varied

I have chosen to create a Lounge of Australian water dragons as they are native  not only to this area, but also most of  Eastern Australia.

They have long powerful limbs and claws for climbing, a long muscular laterally-compressed tail for swimming, with prominent  vertebral crests.

Water dragons are social and gather in groups. They are shy by nature but readily adapt to continual human presence. The lizards are fast runners, strong climbers, and are semi-aquatic.

In ways they have similar qualities to many of our local community members. They are loved locally, and blend well into this environment.

Individual pieces of the Fun in the Sun installation may be purchased for $600 each. This work is available to purchase as an entire installation. Please contact us if you would like to purchase or commission an entire installation.

Please note that prices listed do not include shipping. Artworks may be collected in person - you will be contacted by BNSW once you have made your purchase to arrange pick up. If you require shipping, please contact us to arrange a quote.

John Walters explores the relationship between forms using the same subject matter as inspiration. His wire sculptures of native fauna make regular appearances at local outdoor exhibitions.
He exhibits regularly with various groups, and his work can be found at the monthly markets in Bangalow in the Moller pavilion.
