This work references the orange life buoys placed along the sea wall. It speaks of new ways of seeing, stepping through portals into expansive ways of working with nature to create a viable future. Made from seaweed, removalist boxes, tape, salvaged blankets from my home after the 2022 climate disaster. My family has moved 11 times since. This is the face of climate change.
It pays homage to seaweed and its role in CO2 absorption, climate warming mitigation, regenerative agriculture, as a highly nutritious food source.
This work acknowledges the traditional custodians who utilised and knew the value of seaweed for millennia.
Her background is science which she combines with her current art practice.
She mainly creates large scale ephemeral works with an emphasis on the environment. The work specifically investigates habitat rehabilitation and regenerative agriculture practice with an emphasis on soil and fungi.
