The implementation of Hiromi’s practice within the public realm holds great synergy, and there is strong potential forcommunity engagement to create value that is greater than the sum of individual project components. Nurturing communities, local businesses and other stakeholders in the overall development can be a simple way of involving, uniting and presenting the voices of Byron Shire.
Several facilitator-led workshops were held at the Wheel of Life Studio in Brunswick Heads, where a series of activations with the local community allowed for a deeper understanding of the artmaking practice of Hiromi Tango.
A recycled wire frame was donated by Hiromi which became a symbol, a seed of hope, renewal and beginnings. Participants were guided by facilitators to create hand woven petal and flower elements using colourful recycled wools and fabrics donated by Hiromi. These colourful elements were added at form a Seedling a beginning of a collaboration with the community of Brunswick Heads to celebrate and unite the local community in shared and lived cultural experiences.
We have drawn upon on existing community event that encourages community to better understand the natural world and nurturing oneself within it, learning experiences and environmental/cultural conversations.
These opportunities serve as a space to come together to celebrate andconnect.                                                                                                                                                         Engagementactivations include:
