THE LIVE LONG AND PROSPER AWARD
A SCULPTURE PRIZE OPEN SPECIFICALLY FOR THE WORK OF A FEMALE SCULPTOR OVER FIFTY.
The life of many artists is lived for love, not money or glory.
The creative process is what makes most sense in this world, it seems to me. The act of creation is certainly the most personally rewarding, if at times also challenging. Many women have spent their time and lives looking after others, shaping themselves to others’ expectations, without time to make much money or art. And we all know there is rarely much financial reward in the practice of art. So here is a small balancing of the scales, an acknowledgement of the dedication and inspiration of older women who are practicing artists.
